Almost all of you dog owners ( cats too)  want to have a clean, fresh, smelling pet.  And why not?                                                                                   

So many people come thinking this profession is easy and simple,  not knowing what awaits them !!!  It might  surprise  someone  if they ask you a question of ” what is it that you do for a living?” “Dog Groomer”, I would say,  and in many cases you will either be shamed and thumbs down.

 A lot of people compare this profession to a trash collector for some reason, the lowest of the low. A profession for losers? Absolutely not, but many people think so. In fact the first thing that comes to mind for many of them is something like this: ” how in hell did he or she ended up doing his? Drugs? Alcohol? Prison? May be  a tough and lengthy  divorce? ” Nope…..                                                                                                                                                                   

The answer will surprise you, at least with regards to our great company: Mobile Pet Spa. Some of us could hold B.A. degrees in some of the most prestigious professions in the world, but, somehow ended up grooming dogs and cats.  Even some wanna b’s think that grooming deals with many diseases, skin issues, or even blood ( Hell no) . I am a dog groomer, that is it. not a veterinarian, not a magician , or a waste collector. No surgeries or vaccine shots performed in our profession. It requires special training, which we do not possess ( if someone tells you otherwise, ask them for a Certificate, not a copy, the original, or fire them on the spot).

The groomer is the person who provides great care for animals, some of them rescue,( actually a lot of them are) upon request. “Hello, is this a Local Dog Groomer?” “Yes, how can I help you?”  “See I have a doggie full of fleas, and he likes to sleep with my kids, it has been a month already, may be he needs a grooming bath and a flea dip, can you come today?” …….. What?  The pet has fleas, sleeps in the same bed with your kids, and you waited two weeks to tell me that ma’am…? Holly Jesus.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                And it hits me, nope, it’s not a joke, it’s a reality. Fleas, dog, kids, same bed….And we are talking quite wealthy and sometimes well know people, in affluent neighborhoods ( we do serve some specific areas, and we don’t really go to the bunnies anyway). But these things do happen. I have to admit : rare, but it does happen.

Pet groomer is a real profession, where it’s possible to make a good living by doing something you love to do.                                                       Dog Groomer Local The Specifics.

The season for a local  dog groomer  is a very important factor. More shaves haircuts, flea baths are done in the Summer. Spring deals with lots of skunk bath issues, since skunks give births to their offspring and get very protective ( please tell us a story when your dog chased after a skunk in your local neighborhoods). Personally I have so many stories to tell, they are very funny. My God, you would love it… OK, ok, maybe next time.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

                  Yep, we get bitten…. ( personally I have only 3 times , one of em was my mother in law ( I am kidding), knocking on wood …. or scratched   wich happens a lot dealing with cats.   Dogs naturally don’t like their feet to be touched , either its ticklish or whatever, God knows, but nail trimming is, in my opinion is of the most challenging and  often overlooked routines.  I could write a whole article on it, but for the purpose of telling my story I will try to refrain from long breakdowns.

If your dog’s nails are  long, they can cause arthritis  and deformity of the paws, cause your furry friend will try to alter his walking / running position to avoid an uncomfortable sensation on the feet. That is why they should be carefully cut ( trimmed to a proper length).

Some dogs hate their nails to be cut or feet touched, and they might snap or bite. It is very important to have a slow ” investigative” approach to this. Our Mobile  Service  has the knowledge and experience to avoid such a trait. It is also depends on the dog’s experience with  a previous groomer. May be they cut their nails to short and now your dog is very aware of it, and will absolutely resist anything related.

      There are so many people who have nothing to do with this profession, but are doing it to get easy money, because  dogs can’t talk, right? Unfortunately there are so many now. It used to be only us, Mobile Pet Spa was the only mobile  service who provided at home pet care. so, make your choices wisely. I am telling you…….

                                        Dog Shampoos and Conditioners

           When it comes to grooming  your dog , the biggest problem people have using various shampoos, is that they don’t use the product according to the directions.                               Its either used a full concentrate and having a hard time getting the shampoo or a conditioner out of your dog, or they dilute it beyond what the direction say ( call it ‘saving”).  And you are not going to get the results promised with a high quality shampoo for example that way.

To use the shampoo in it’s full strength ( potential), you have to mix it ( dilute it) according to the label. Usually it applies to dirty pets and works like a charm if you know what you are doing. But, why do it yourself?  Mobile Pet Spa, has all the knowledge and the expertise .                                                                                                                                                          Our shampoos are of the highest quality, they smell really great ( not fragrant), and really nourish and cleanse your pet’s skin. It is really beneficial, and did we say it’s ter free?

Licenced and insured.  The most common  dilution rate is 10:1.                                                                                                                                                     

Don’t buy those cheap shiny bottles you think is good. We  use Espree, and they have great products. For a conditioner, we use a two finger palm rule ( call us and ask us about it.

 A dog’s life: snacks, kisses, play time, sleep,  your dog is also your life partner.  Taking care of it is as essential as your own  self indulgence and grooming.
